Under the supervision of the Finance Management Officer the incumbent will perform the following duties:
•Advising, reviewing and drafting MOU, donor agreement, agreements with implementing partners and respective due diligence processes, or other legal documents to meet specific circumstances, liaising with the legal officer at HQ, project managers at the Regional office and Country Offices,
•Advising, reviewing, and drafting contracts in the human resources arena follow the rules and procedure of the Secretariat and follow up in request to other UN agencies.
•Providing contractual and legal support in the procurement process.
•Providing support in the establishment and revision of policies, regulations, rules and internal procedures and guidelines related to UN-Environment.
•Performing legal research and analysis and prepare legal opinions, briefs, reports and correspondence and provide legal advice on relevant matters such as issues relating to local laws and privileges and immunities and interpretation of basic agreements with host countries.
•Advising in facilitating resolution of conflicts and influencing parties to accept solutions to achieve the objectives of the organization including with implementing partners and donors.
•Maintain accurate records of all legal documents and prepare the monthly reports.
•Performs other duties as requested related to the legal, HR and procurement domain.
6 months (renewable depending on performance and budget)

Advise in legal issues in the Administrative area
Academic Qualifications: •A degree in Law is essential.
•A master’s degree in international law is desirable
Experience: •4 years of progressive experience in the field of international law and administrative area;
•Experience with international development assistance agencies is desired.
•Demonstrated ability to write advanced conceptual documents such as methodologies,
case studies, training outlines, and research papers
•Independent research ability is required
•Knowledge of UMOJA or ERP is an asset.
Language: English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Command in oral and written Spanish and English. Working knowledge of French is required. Knowledge of another official United Nations language is an advantage.
