The company ESRI (Environmental System Research Institute), a leader in developing and marketing of software for geographic information systems (GIS), pledged to work with the National Authority for Government Innovation (AIG), whose Institute of Technology and Innovation is located at the City of Knowledge, to create a Center of Excellence in Geographic Information Systems (CESIG) at CDS.
A press conference was held on December 19, 2012, at the Panama - Korea Technology Access Center in the City of Knowledge, in which a cooperation agreement was signed between INADEH and the prestigious Syracuse University, in collaboration with the dCHAIN group.

From February 27 to March 3 the Community Management in Environmental Business course was offered to 25 representatives from 13 community groups, which developed activities related to sustainable natural resource management in the provinces of Darien, Panama, Veraguas, Chiriqui and Bocas del Toro.
