In her first visit to Panama, the current Deputy Secretary General of the United Nations and Administrator of United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Helen Clark, visited the City of Knowledge.

After walking through the Interpretation Center -which tells the story of how a former military base became the main forum of knowledge of the region- Clark met with Jorge Arosemena and Irene Perurena, Executive President and Executive Vice President of the City of Knowledge Foundation, respectively, along with senior UN officials in Panama.

The also former Prime Minister of New Zealand (1999-2008), used her three-day tour to meet with employees from different UN agencies, visit various indigenous projects and meet with the country's president, Juan Carlos Varela.
