INTERNSHIP - PROGRAMME SUPPORT - DUTY STATION: PANAMA CITY, PANAMA

Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern will work with UNEP-ROLAC’s Resources Efficiency Unit, under the supervision of the Regional Coordinator of the Resource Efficiency Sub-Programme. The position will be linked to the following projects:
-Inclusive Green Economy Initiative
-Partnership for Action on Green Economy (PAGE)
-UNEP Finance Initiative (UNEP FI)
More specifically, the job will entail the following tasks:
-Research, analyze and present data and information gathered from diverse sources to support the implementation of projects and activities related to green economy and sustainable finance.
-Support with the follow-up and provision of technical assistance for the national, sub-regional and regional/global component of inclusive green economy and UNEP FI (e.g. revision of some deliverables, collecting relevant information/data on the topic, reporting progress, engagement and dissemination of the reports in the LAC region, scaling up and replicating through potential partnerships with other organizations, etc).
-Support the preparation of translations, briefings, communication notes, information material and power point presentations.
-Assist with the organization of meetings, workshops, seminars, webinars and other similar activities, supporting with the preparation of agendas, co-drafting background materials, and meeting reports. In particular with the monthly webinars of the LATF.
-Review literature and prepare summaries with main findings on resource efficiency, green economy and sustainable finance
-Support the work of the Resource Efficiency Website with web-friendly text – concise and accurate, and keeping it to date with the latest events of news of the Unit.
-Support other activities of the Resource Efficiency Unit as requested.
The candidate should have strong analytical skills, and a sound knowledge of the nexus of environmental, social and economic issues. Previous work experience in the area of sustainable development, green economy, sustainable finance, market tools for environmental sustainability, fiscal tools would be a valuable asset, as well as demonstrable experience of liaising with government and/or the business sector. Excellent research, communication and writing skills in Spanish and English, as well as a high degree of motivation and self-organization are required.
Final year undergraduate or master’s degree student in Economics, International Relations, Environmental Sciences, Social Sciences or a related areas. The intern must be enrolled and be able to submit a university endorsement once selected for this position.
Excellent writing and communication skills in English are required. Working knowledge of other UN official languages is desirable.
